Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the Pioneer SX-1280. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild a Pioneer SX-1280, and includes the correct size replacement main filter capacitors. This does not include new lights, fuses, or any resistors. This also does not include the driver or output transistors. If you need to replace the output transistors, I have boards here that will let you replace them with modern transistors. Please don’t buy any of the Chinese output transistors on eBay–those are counterfeit and will blow up. I also have a complete incandescent light kit available here, and a complete LED light kit here. This kit includes replacements for all the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in the receiver, including the four main filter capacitors, which are replaced with 22000 uf 100v Chemi-Con caps, which were Made in USA in mid-2022. The new caps are the same diameter as the old ones so they will fit the old clamps perfectly. There are four 2.2 uf 250v Panasonic film bypass capacitors included as well. The kit also includes replacements for almost all the transistors on all the boards, except there are only replacements for Q1 and Q14 on the driver boards–the others don’t generally need replacing. Also, the tuner board transistors and the flat amp FETs are not replaced. The kit for the power supply includes replacement diodes and zener diodes, which are important to replace, and there are two new Omron relays included–one for the protection board and one for the power supply board. You will also receive detailed instructions to help this rebuild go more smoothly. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild Pioneer equipment. I have rebuild quite a few of the big Pioneers over the last few years. The SX-1280 is one of Pioneer’s best receivers, and it deserves a high-quality rebuild. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Panasonic FC, Wima film, Panasonic film, 2 Supertech 105°C axial caps, and Chemi-Con for the main filters. Transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi and a few Toshiba. This kit includes a total of 177 parts, which is more than most of the kits I sell. This will be a long, slow rebuild. The parts for each board are individually bagged for ease of installation, and the instructions will tell you how the transistors and diodes go in, but there are a LOT of parts to replace here, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear I would not recommend starting with this one. You should know what you’re doing and have a good soldering iron, a desoldering gun such as a Hakko FR-301, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with 100W or 150W incandescent bulb.
