Technics SL-1600 Mk II Mk2 Speed Repair Kit Capacitors Turntable Recap Set
Up for sale here is this complete recap kit for the Technics SL-1600 Mk2 turntable. This is not for the original SL-1600, just the SL-1600 Mk2. If you want a kit for the original SL-1600, I have that available here. This kit includes all the capacitors you need to recap the three circuit boards in the SL-1600 Mk2. The old capacitors start getting leaky and the transistors go bad, resulting in speed issues. This will take care of most of the circuit-board-related issues you will see with these turntables, except if you have a bad AN6680U chip. One major problem with these turntables is that the AN6680 IC chip can go bad, which will result in speed issues as well. Unfortunately there is no modern replacement for this chip, so if you recap your board and the speed is still acting up then you may need to find a replacement chip, which is available on eBay, they’re just really expensive. Leaky capacitors can damage this chip, so even if your turntable is working, you should still recap it. This kit includes replacements for all 30 electrolytic capacitors on the boards. These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I work on vintage stereo gear. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Panasonic FC, and Wima film caps. The 470 uf axial cap is replaced with a new radial capacitor, which fits perfectly. I will include instructions, but this is moderately complicated, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron. Opening up your turntable and getting access to the boards can be tricky, and you will need to use the service manual (I will provide a free download link) to help get your turntable open. Please see my pictures for details. US shipping and handling is $5, and international is $18, no matter what quantity you buy. All my small parts are set up for combined shipping, so just use the “add to cart” feature and then check out all at once, and it will combine shipping. If you have any questions, please ask. Looking for more parts?
