DYNACO ST-70 6GH8A / 6GH8 COMPLETE STUFFED PC-3 DRIVER BOARD WITH TUBES (NOS Platinum matched pair of 6GH8A EI Philips) This is Dynaco ST-70 driver board PC-3. It’s developed and designed to be drop in replacement and it follows original wire hole layout, but it’s modified to use widely available 6GH8 / 6GH8A / 6KD8 / ECF82 tubes instead of obsolete and hard to find 7199 tubes. You can find many quality NOS tubes of any of these types for normal prices and you can enjoy tube rolling with this driver board. It’s also modified to accept modern and NOS coupling capacitors of various types and dimensions.It’s made of hi quality epoxy fiberglass FR4 material 1.6mm (0.062’) thickness, it’s double sided with solder rings on top layer. Solder reflow process is done on both layers and also inside every hole and blue solder mask is applied on both sides. All connections and elements on the board are silkscreened with original DYNACO numbering, so you can use original DYNACO ST-70 manual to complete it.This is complete board! One brand new PCB, ceramic sockets, WIMA MKP coupling capacitors, silver mica capacitors, metal film, metal oxide and carbon oxide resistors and one NOS matched pair (two tubes) of 6GH8A EI Philips. They are made back in 80s in EI tube factory, under Philips licence and with some of genuine Philips materials. They were intended for export, so they have passed strict quality control. Every pair is selected from the same batch with same date codes and tubes are real platinum matched pairs, tested on my calibrated METRIX U61-B tester. All coupling capacitors are high quality WIMA MKP Metallized Polypropylene (PP) Capacitors. 120nF are used vs original 100nF, for a bit better bass response.Also silver mica capacitors are used, metal film, metal oxide and carbon resistors for good performance and lowest hum.Without printed DYNACO manual, but I can send pdf by email!!!Please note that I’m responsible for board and tubes only, and once soldered to, all warranties and guarantees are voided except where the quality of the board, components on the board and tubes. The assembly uses high quality components sourced from reputable US retailers (Mouser or Digikey), components include Vishay 1W metal film resistors, Bourns trim pots, Nichicon UFG or UFW electrolytics, TDK ceramic caps, On Semi and Central Semiconductor transistors, solid aluminum heatsink, and upgraded 10W power resistors. The PCB utilizes black FR-4 with white silk-screen lettering and uses ENIG gold surface finish. The pads for connection to the amplifier are 2x sided, an upgrade from the single side of the original. The board has been designed based on the latest McIntosh 044-980 service manual update. Each board is QA tested in a working MC2105 or MC2300 for correct operation before shipment, see images of testing performed in listing for expected THD vs Freq, THD vs Power, IMD, Freq Response, etc. Testing was performed on a restored MC2105. NOTE: the successful installation and use of this board relies on working upstream and downstream components; if your amplifier isn’t currently working, do not expect that the installation of this board will lead to a successful repair. If your amp isn’t working, all upstream and downstream components (including input section circuit board and all output devices) must be checked to ensure they are in working order before installation.
