This Ampex 1070 tube model was given to me by a buddy who had bought several similar Ampexes. I know very little about it, other than I have seen inside and deemed it to be complete in restorable condition other that the fact that he robbed the knobs of it for one of his others. For a while I had considered designing and 3D printing a new set of knobs and restoring it. But I’ve already got enough vintage electronics restorations to do. The recorder is already packed and ready for shipment. I make it a point to pack my items for sale in a manner that they will be able to withstand dropping or other abuse. Recorder is quite heavy for its size, as are just about all tube-based gear.
