In today’s day and age, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable technician who can service your audio gear properly. I have seen many poor quality restorations of equipment that cost way too much for their owners. In 99% of the cases, only a few parts were replaced, instead of a full and proper restoration job.A proper restoration must replace all electrolytic capacitors on all boards. Do not fall for partial kits that restore just one PCB (power supply, power amp, etc.). This is not a good or proper way to restore your audio equipment. It is the same as with car tires; one should never replace just one tire and keep the other worn-out tires on. A proper rebuild requires a full recap of all PCBs.On the other hand, if one succeeds in finding a good tech, the wait time is usually 6-12 months for the unit to be serviced, and costs are sky-high. Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the Sansui 7070 receiver. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild a Sansui 7070, and includes the correct size replacement main filter capacitors. This does not include new lights or fuses. This also does not include the driver or output transistors. Correct replacement outputs are MJ21195G/MJ21196G, available here. Please don’t buy any of the fake Chinese transistors on eBay–those are counterfeit and will blow up. This kit includes replacements for all the electrolytic capacitors in the receiver, including the two large chassis-mount capacitors, which are replaced with new Chemi-Con 10000 uf 80v caps. The new caps are the same diameter as the old ones so they will fit the old clamps perfectly. The kit also includes replacements for almost all the transistors on all the boards except the tuner board. Transistors frequently age worse than the capacitors, so you have to replace them when you’re doing a rebuild. A new relay for the power supply board and replacements for a number of diodes and all the fuse resistors are also included. There are two different versions of the F-2624 driver board, one with 1000-ohm trimmers and one with 100-ohm trimmers. The 1000-ohm version is more common, so the kit comes with those trimmers by default. I can swap them out for 100-ohm trimmers, just let me know. If you send me a picture of your driver board when you buy the kit, I can tell from the picture which board version you have. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same ones I use when I rebuild vintage equipment. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Nichicon Muse, Nichicon VY, Panasonic FC, Wima film, and Chemi-Con for the main filters. Transistors and diodes are Fairchild/Onsemi. This kit includes a total of 155 parts. The parts for each board are individually bagged for ease of installation, and the instructions will tell you how the transistors and diodes go in, but there are a LOT of parts to replace here, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear I would not recommend starting with this one. You should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with 100W incandescent bulb. I would recommend a a desoldering gun such as a Hakko FR-301, but it’s not absolutely necessary. Please see my pictures for details. US shipping and handling is $10, and international is $28.
